Biggest
Floods:
The biggest floods were in the past ages.. .1894, over thirty feet
higher than recent floods. The biggest landslide occurred above
Happy Camp sometime before 1800. This dammed the Klamath River completely,
and when the dam broke, a flood over 120 feet in the canyon. ..all
the lower houses at Weitchpec were dismantled and hauled up the
hill in anticipation. A people who do this are not afraid of floods.

On Rivers:
That was the reason why the earth wasn't right at Hoopa. The people
went down and got driftwood for their fires. You are supposed to
use fir from the mountains for the fires at the dances. This is
the Law. They have become lazy. And when they do this, then the
river will come back up to the driftwood. The People do not follow
The Law. That is the reason the ocean waves rose one hundred feet
under the bridge at Weitchpec and washed out the houses. I:123
