Central Feature of Ritual:
The central feature of ritual is the recitation of a formula. This is a dialogue recounting the effect of an act or a series of acts similar to those about to be performed.....to the end. What the Yurok was actually doing was to recreate a spiritual pattern. Since all things were composed of spirit, if Spirit Patterns are repeated, then the end product also is repeated or recreated.
